We are foragers, market gardeners and outdoor enthusiast.
Tyler and Erin began their journey volunteering on a variety of farms traveling and woofing around Canada, South America, Asia, and the United States.
They brought their knowledge back to their home town and began a volunteer group called We Grow Food where folks from around the neighbourhood would come together to help each other start backyard gardens and create a support group for people starting their first garden.
With Erin’s background in wildcrafting and farm to kitchen-style cooking, within her community she continued to cater and personal chef to this health conscious market which allowed her to help start and run the Lil Organic Kitchen in Whitby and Cobourg, Ontario.
Tyler continued to work as a tradesman until he decided to start an urban farming project and began to sell locally grown produce to his community. This year Foragers Farms has partnered with Headwaters Community Farm and Education Centre in Cobourg Ontario to broaden their horizons with a solid team of enthusiastic growers, teachers, mentors, interns, and volunteers.
Every year we observe the changes of seasons and the interactions between plants, animals and the elements.
We venture off to the beautiful wild landscapes of the northern Carolinian and the Boreal forest to ecologically harvest edible, medicinal and utilitarian plants and to deepen our connection with nature, giving gratitude and giving back to the land that sustains us.
These lessons learned are applied in our organic gardens where we use a variety of techniques learned from our travels including permaculture, biodynamic and SPIN farming in order to make a living on the land. Stay posted for future workshops and farm tours!
