October 14 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Event Navigation

Throwing axes is no fun in the rain and there’s rain in the forecast so we’re going to postpone this event – we’ll try again soon!

If you’ve ever had a hankering for throwing sharp objects, here’s your chance! Carlo Raponi of the Peterborough Axe Club will be here to run a fun tournament in the truly Canadian art of axe throwing! Join up to learn the basics and compete in one of two round robins. In a round robin you’ll get a chance to play several times even if you are losing! Prizes to be won! Sign up to play at either 10:00-12:00 or 12:00-2:00. Limited to 10 people per session. Beginners welcome. Ages 13+ . $35/participant.

Also Wyatt Cook of Sharpshank Knives will be on hand to demonstrate knife-making and sharpening, tool restoration and how to reshaft an axe. Hands-on opportunities to try it yourself. Wyatt’s partner, Mia Di Costanzo, will showcase her beautiful custom leatherwork for knife and axe sheaths.

Based in Toronto, Sharpshank Knife and Tool was born out of an obsession for knives and a penchant for making. Working with his hands from a young age, owner and maker Wyatt Cook decided to leave the world of advertising and dive head first into the realm of the handmade. A background of tool restoration and picking provided a platform for creation, and experience with various materials – new and old.

With the addition of Mia Di Costanzo, the horizons of Sharpshank were broadened. What once was solely a knife focused endeavor evolved to offer a range of products and services. Familiarity with leather, thermoplastics, synthetic and natural materials, carbon and stainless steels, Sharpshank is always eager to take on new projects and develop new product.
