Artisan Vinegar Workshop

June 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

$65

Description:

Take a stroll with experienced herbalists Johanna Wiersma and Joy Cameron and pick wild plants to create your own mineral-rich vinegar. Herbs and flowers like nettle, red clover, red raspberry leaf, wild violet, and chickweed make wonderful tonics that are a tasty way to get valuable vitamins and minerals into your daily diet. After harvesting the ingredients, Johanna and Joy will help you choose your recipe and then walk you through the steps to make the vinegar infusion. Herb-infused vinegars are not only healthy for you, they have a multitude of culinary uses. They shine as salad dressings, as a condiment for cooked greens, in place of regular vinegar in a recipe and in marinades and barbeque sauces. To top off the workshop, you will be able to sample a variety of vinegars on salads and in some Headwaters home-cooked recipes.

Instructors

Johanna Wiersma has long been actively engaged in alternative and creative projects. As an energy therapist she understands the connection and importance of the health of the body, mind and spirit. Now, when she is not counseling a client, Johanna can be found planting, harvesting flowers and berries or creating products. The Community Shared Agriculture garden that she manages at Fifth Wind farm is filled with organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. When Joy, with her knowledge of herbs, entered her life, all the right ingredients were present to create what has become Pure Joy Herbal Creations.

Joy Cameron enjoys gardening and discovering ways to work with plants. From food gardening to landscaping to organic farming, to herbalism, Joy has spent many hours learning about Nature’s ways. Her experience is now shared through workshops and herbal mentorship, as well as through the business partnership with Joanna, with products from their gardens. She also leads classes in Qigong practices, encouraging and empowering people to take charge of their health and well-being.
