Kim is a lifetime Singer, Songwriter and Musician and, until recently, a Port Hope resident. She moved back to Nova Scotia because Covid 19 forced her to relocate to where she could find employment. We are delighted that she is returning to Northumberland to do a few shows and connect with the people in the area that she holds very close to her heart. There will be a few surprise guests local to the area who will be joining her as well!
Kim is a born entertainer, steeped in Roots Blues and Country and the Kitchen Party Maritime influence of her Native Nova Scotia. She can tell a good story and keep you laughing as her writing is her “diary” of her long musical journey.
While living in Northumberland Country, Kim not only performed, she also mentored students showing an interest in vocals, songwriting and performance, she booked the Arts Festival in Port Hope yearly for the Municipality of PH, Dreamers Cafe House Concerts, The Sculthorpe Room at the Capitol Theatre and various other festivals in the area.
She believes that musicians should be collaborative and work together and found there was not only a wealth of excellent performers in her own backyard, but a very supportive audience that welcomed originality, which is abundant in the area.
Her 9th CD, Into The Blue charted across Canada, Europe, the USA, and charted with 5 songs with Stingray Music, CBC, Folk Radio, The Blues Radio Network and Blues and Roots Radio. It was produced and largely co-written with Ken Whiteley as well as Suzie Vinnick for one tune. Kim is presently writing her 10th album to be released in 2021.
Rob Quail has been Kim’s musical counterpart since 1982, they literally grew up in the Toronto Music Scene with then fledgling musicians Jeff Healey, Phillip Sayce, Laura Hubert, The Cee Dee’s, Downchild and many other TO luminaries.
Rob is a first rate guitar player who played 2nd seat with Jeff Healey until his 2008 passing. He is innovative, creative and has spanned 30 years playing with the best from Albert Lee, Sonny Landreth, The Trews, Walter Trout, to name a few.
Kim Calls him “her guitar player”, he counters that she is “his singer”. After many decades playing together they are a pleasure to watch.
